Hawaii Motels News
Resolved Question: Bahamas or hawaii, or somewhere else tropical and warm?
So, me, my husband, and my daughter have been trying to plan a family vacation for the last few months, to just get away, and reconnect with each other, and have a good time. We plan on going in feb. I'll be 7 months pregnant, and our 2 year old. We really just want to go somewhere tropical and enjoy the beach. My husband mentioned Bahamas or Hawaii, but I know that can get pretty pricey. I dont even know how to go about looking for a place like that. Does anyone know of a good website with the cheapest prices. ( We will need information, on airfair/ or / cruise, motels, dinning, and attractions.

Resolved Question: My boyfriend is coming to visit, and has nowhere to stay?
I'm in an LDR.. okay, well, technically it would be an internet relationship, as we have not met yet, but it is very serious and has been going on for over 8 months now. It will soon be an LDR.
He is 20, and I'm 17. We want to make our first visit happen next month in August and he wants to come and stay for at least two weeks (before our college semesters start near the end of the month). A hotel/motel was our original plan, as my family would not welcome him (initially, anyway) to stay at home as he is a "stranger." Come to think of it, we do not have enough extra money to afford a room for that long.
My city is fairly small, and it does not have any shelters and whatnot for the homeless, nor a YMCA or anything like that, so that idea is out of the question.
I need suggestions on finding him a safe place to stay.. if it comes down to it, I'm willing to sleep on the streets with him (but then again, I don't know the legal places that people can sleep in public here - is there a cite that states individual city laws like that?).
Please help me out.. I don't want the visit cut short simply because we couldn't afford a hotel room for more than a few days. It would be a waste of a plane ticket, really... (He's in Hawaii; I'm in California.)
Wow, camping would actually be fun. I'll keep that into consideration. =] We're both kind of high maintenance though, so it would be an interesting experience.
Thanks for the safety concerns, I appreciate it. We know each other very well, talk on the phone everyday, and have met each others' families via webcam and voice. It's all cool... My family is just iffy about him staying with us, so I'm simply looking for other possible alternatives. I'm sure it will work out in the long run, but I just want some creative ideas. This information was really not part of the question, but I would like a few more helpful answers here than safety precaution ones.

Resolved Question: Is it illegal for a tourist to sleep in your car next to the road in the US and Canada?
I'm planning a major road trip that will involve me and my girlfriend driving (most of the time) through every state and territory in the US and Canada. That's 64 states and territories in total, out of which a car will be used in 61-62 of them (Nunavut, Hawaii and maybe Newfoundland and Labrador being the exceptions). We're most likely going to spend the night at hotels or motels at times, but we're also considering the idea of just parking next to the road, and spend the night there. This would obviously save us some money, which could come quite in handy, because, as you can imagine, this trip is going to be expensive.
But is it legal to sleep in your car next to the road? It's not like we're going to park on the road itself, nor in places where we would put the lives of other drivers at risk. Our personal safety is not a problem, as I'm more than proficient in self-defense, and my girlfriend knows quite a bit about handling herself too.
We're both from Northern Europe, and neither of us have any criminal records, just in case it matters. Thanks in advance.

Resolved Question: What are some long distance relationship tips?
I cant stop thinking about it. But after this summer my girlfriend will be moving about and hour & half away to college. And I am going to be a senior. What are stuff that I can do to help our relationship afloat? I wont probably see her the first couple weeks maybe months after fall because of her job. I don't know how its going to turn out. But once things get rolling I hope to see her at least once a month if not 2. I am limited because gas will be murder on me. I have a crappy van to drive gas will be maybe around $30-40 round trip. I am trying to get a part time job but its still going to be bad. And plus she might be doing stuff on the weekends. I want to stay over there but I don't know if the dorms may allow. The only thing I can think of is staying at a motel lol. I will be only 17 though.
I we talk to each other on the phone pretty much every day. And I plan on getting web cams for both of us. It will be nice to see her. What else can I do?
at least its not as bad as my sisters. Her boyfriend (now husband since the 6th) lived in hawaii so it was like twice a year thing. They got threw it. They had a lot of bumps but they got married. And my sister only turned 18 lol. Its her idea but what ever.
No the thing is that we want it. It may sound crazy but I may end up marrying this girl. I tipped toed around it and she knows that I want to eventually. I am planing to go to her school after I graduate. There is no chance of us breaking off. That would be the last thing I would do.
I know they can work. My sister just got married. It worked her her. And she barely got to see her boyfriend. I will see her every couple weeks when the ball gets rolling. I just want to set up a good foundation of communication.
I noticed a lot of people on yahoo arnt really commited to things lol.

Resolved Question: Make my own air travel plans or see agent for downunder?
I used the travel agents years ago to go to Sydney to see my aunts and stayed with my grandmother. Yahoo travel says around $1000.00 per person and from Baltimore roundtrip, but that is just air and not to stay in Hawaii. Agent quoted about $3600.00 per person no hotel in Australia, but that is also an expensive hotel in Hawaii for maybe a week. How hard is it to make my own plans. I could do it myself if I was to just book for 2 to Sydney and back, but I want to stop in Hawaii and I know I could book my own hotel or motel because I don't need a fancy schmansy place to stay like they show me in those booklets. I just don't know how to go about making extra stop in Hawaii. And why would it cost so much more to travel to Hawaii when it is on the way home ? Do I need to call the airlines?
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have stopped in Hawaii twice. I was just wondering if I could save myself a couple thousand dollars. I did like Honolulu , though, but would love to see Maui. I stopped in at another travel agent where I dropped off my taxes to be done and she will soon let me know. Sue
I know I have learned to confirm my flights a day or two in advance. Way back when I was only 20 and in the 70's, I decided to fly to Sydney by myself from the East Coast and have never flown in my life! When I was leaving Hawaii (there for a day lay-over) I almost missed my flight. The agent was off by an hour. I was in the lounge having tea then went to board. The stewardess was the last person to board looking for me telling me I was really late and the 747 was out on the runway and was about to take off in 15 min and I and the stewardess ran out and up the stairs. whew! Don't know what I would have done, being only 20, and naive .My mom's sisters would have been looking for me at the Sydney airport. Never told mom when I got back home.

you guiys might remember me i asked the same question yesterday, but i want to add a little bit more information
hi, im planning a trip around america, and when i mean, around america, i mean every state. (except alaska and hawaii) but anyway, what do you guys think would be the best way of transport for me to get around? i was thinking of a motor home, itd be good cause i wouldnt have to spend any money on motels/hotels but its also bad because you cant really park a motor home at theme parks and casinos and restaurants and stuff like that. so would you know any car rental places that will let you hire cars to ge around america for around 6 months. if not, is there any other way of transport that you would recommend? (im not flying, and i dont necessarily want to go taxi/bus hopping, so can you guys help me out? so far, i think motorhomes is the best idea, (i am not going to hitchhike lol) id buy a used car then sell when i get back, except that that will make me pay a lot more money on hotels and stuff. so does everyone agree that motorhome would be best idea? or does anyone else have any ideas?

Resolved Question: Can somebody help me...I'm writing something.?
And if it's not too much trouble, could somebody tell me what they think of one of the characters I'm developing for it? Thanks in advance. =]
These are notes I've taken down for him:
I have a severe dislike for small talk. I feel like it shoves away emotion and personality/originality in favor of superficial, phony connection/communication between people. Small talk, in my opinion, is just completely regular conversation dealing with topics like the economy, and politics, and of course questions like "how was your weekend?" And then, people sort of don't how to respond if you truly answer. "How was my weekend? It was actually miserable. I spent it all, wallowing in my own self-pity, shutting out all connection to the outside world and anybody or thing in my life in attempts to evaluate myself." How would they respond?
I don't want much money at all, in fact I really hate how so many people revolve their lives around money. I dislike new technologies and don't have a cell phone, and I feel like I would rather live in another generation. But, then I wonder if that's how everybody feels about their own time...
I once found great pleasure in reading something about Charlie Chaplin which said that even after he had accumulated millions, he still continued to live in a shabby motel room. I really would like to live in a car, and be free, able to go places and see things at any time, without complete responsibilities. I would accept living a "normal" life, though, because there is essentially beauty in everything, you don't have to exactly look for it in places like Hawaii if you take a vacation there or something. Beauty exists in your life even if you're homeless, sleeping in a car, with no money or future to your name. And with that, I believe that there is a hell of a lot of beauty in this world, but I don't often see it, or feel it, because it's masked behind a lot of the ugly **** out there. But if people just really looked around, I think they would be a lot happier with their lives. People take so much for granted that it's ridiculous.
On the subject of new technologies, I just hate it how people can't even really get lost anymore (except really out in the wilderness and stuff) because there are things like GPS, and of course cell phones that can navigate us back. I want to get truly lost. I remember as a kid, in amusement parks my family and I would get separated for really long and then finally find each other again, but now with cell phones all people have to do is call each other and state the now famous phrase which I despise so whole-heartedly..."where you at?" It's too bad all land is owned by somebody, or some city, or something, because it would be nice if you could just go and set up a little tent somewhere to live for a while.
I have weird emotions. Sometimes, I find myself smiling and laughing for no reason. But it makes me sad. A lot of the time I'm extremely happy and extremely sad at the same time. Because, I think, we're always every emotion at the same time but we just don't exactly realize it. Every situation is good, but it's also bad. An example being a mother, waving good-bye to her child who is going off to college. It's happy and beautiful because they're going to go through life, living and making their own journey and making their own choices. But it's sad and depressing that the mother will never be able to relive the past when she was raising the child, and that the child doesn't need her care anymore. It's sad and happy for numerous reasons, and I just think that there is always ambivalence, and contradictions to every situation.
I don't want to be someone who looks over at every un-ordinary sound or siren, attempting to add excitement/interest to their lives in any stupid way.
I don't have much faith in humanity, and thus have no faith in myself...but I have a lot of faith in beauty. I really think that everything is beautiful, and when thinking about people on a grand scale, you just think about all the injustices in the world and all of the greed and selfishness and poverty and all of that awful stuff. But on a small scale, when focusing in one just a young couple or something, who is focusing on making their future together and going to college to become what they want to be. That's beautiful. In other under-developed countries or whatever you call them, sure it's awful, but maybe the people there don't exactly think of it that way. I think, that they're the ones who might actually be living. They don't take things for granted, or worry much about their appearance, or make big deals out of nothing (my boyfriend might be cheating on me), and I just feel so fat and spoiled. To them, what they're living is just life, just like what we're living is just life.
Sure it could be better, but it could be worse, in both cases. I don't know. I'm not sure how to explain it, or anything at all, either. Looking at influential figures like Jim Henson, and The Beatles, and Dr. Suess...I just want to inspire people like that. I want to...bring back the beauty of kid's movies in favor of these awful computer-animated films like Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda (excluding the usually good Pixar movies). I remember when I was a kid, or before I was born rather, there were extremely emotional childrens' movies like The Land Before Time, and The Brave Little Toaster, and of course most of the Disney classics and some Disney movies of the 90's (before the god-awful 2000s hit).
I'm constantly struggling to decide whether I hate everything or love everything.
"There are also Kerouac and the Beats to consider."
The character is actually going to really look up to Kerouac and is ultimately going to want to become a travel writer/novelist in the vein of On the Road and Steinbeck's Travels with Charley.
Thank you, Patrick! =]
Also:
"but you romanticize the Child. (Don't forget that Disney movies hardly grew out of anything innocent. The first Mickey Mouse cartoons were horribly racist, and Disney himself was racist and anti-Semitic.)"
And thus, more reason for the character to have no faith in humanity (but faith in the possibility of beauty as a prevailing factor in even the ugliest of situations, times, and people).
