I have a question I can find no answer to. I manage a small motel, in Michigan. Tenants rent week to week. No sec. dep. and no lease. A tenant moved out yesterday and left a bunch of their belongings behind (mostly their childs things), they returned the keys. No one knew they were moving, we just found the keys hanging on the door the next day, checked the room and found most of their stuff to be gone. . How long do we legally have to keep their stuff and what kind of storage fee can we charge? Any help would be great, or if someone knows where I can call... Thanx in advance

I have been looking for a location in the mid-michigan area that has a old-fashioned feeling and also has a hotel close by. I know finding something like that in Michigan is difficult but anything close to this even would be nice. I dont want to be in a huge city but at the same time I dont want to be in the styx. Just something classic and with a decent hotel (not motel).

I'm looking for a cheap place to stay that offers a private bedroom and bathroom with shower near downtown ann arbor, near central campus of university of michigan. I'm visiting someone for a week and cant afford to stay at most of the hotels cause they all are at cheapest $50-$60 per night. That will add up to around $400 for a week which is much too expensive. I can afford around $100, maybe $200 but that's the most I can pay. Is there a hotel/motel I haven't heard of? Or any other way of staying somewhere. Please let me know, thanks.

Voting Question: Being evicted and sued for more than I owe($5k) - WWYD?

I'm too embarrassed to discuss this with anyone I know IRL, and too broke to discuss it with an attorney. I live in Michigan. Within the past couple months I have fallen behind in my rent. I am currently a little under $1400 behind on my $500 a month rent. The rent is due on the 20th, so if I am still here I'll be almost $1900 behind. Last Monday I told the landlord I'd be out in 2 weeks, that he could keep my $500 security deposit, and asked if he would accept $50 a month until he is aid off. He said he would have to file for eviction with the court. When I got the notice to appear on the 24th, it said that he is also suing me for $5000. That's more than 3 times what I owe him, when you figure in the security deposit I was letting him keep. Here's my predicament. I don't want to say or do anything hasty, but I feel like he doublecrossed me. I have no rent receipts because I always trusted him. So, I'm considering staying here after the time I told him I would leave. My daughter and I were going to have to stay in a motel temporarily, but now I wonder if I should save the money in order to file for bankruptcy(I also have huge medical bills, which is part of the reason I fell behind). WWYD? My lease is month to month, so the $5k would not be to fulfill the terms of any lease.

My boyfriend is 19, he is coming from the netherlands to see me for a week sometime in the winter. I am 17, we want to rent a hotel room together for a week so we can spend time together. We are going to be having sex, which is legal, but is it legal for my boyfriend to rent a hotel room for an adult and a 'minor' and is it legal for us to stay together in the room. We are not some giddy couple who are going to be at the counter like "omg omg were gonna rent a room so we can have sex all day!!!". No, we're both mature about it and are really looking forward to just being together. is it legal in michigan to do this though? Would they call the cops on us because ia 17 yr old and a 19 yr old are booking a room together? I could even be his sister/cousin/penpal for all they know.
