Resolved Question: How is the beginning of my story?

So this is the first page of my story called "Writings," and I would like to know if you were reading the book, if you would keep reading. Is the beginning too boring? I am twelve years old, by the way. Kaycee Conway tearfully took one last longing glance at her old house. Her older sister, Sara, poked her shoulder with a long purple fingernail. "Stop looking back, you'll get upset," she said strictly. "I'm upset already," Kaycee said in a tight voice. "You'll get more upset," Sara said. She tossed her long, blonde hair. "I'm not upset. This place is a ghost town. Plus, in LA, I can live my dream of being an actress." "Syracuse is my home," Kaycee insisted. "That's what you said about our last house, too. Kansas is so rural. I am not a country girl. Los Angeles will be amazing." "Then we'll get used to it, then we'll move again, and I'll be upset, and you'll be saying 'California is so urban. I am not a city girl.''' "Shut up. Dad won't make us move if I get a job. Heck, dad won't even have to work anymore because I'll be earning all the money we need having people from all over the place adore me. If dad doesn't work, we don't move, so don't worry about it. Sara loved the spotlight. She was beautiful and talented, she could sing, dance, act, and play about five different instruments. Sara was fourteen and only about four feet and eleven inches tall, while Kaycee was eleven and about five inches taller than her teenage sister. Sara had big, round, very blue eyes and porcelain skin, and Kaycee had black hair, suntanned skin from playing soccer all summer, and hazel eyes shaped like almonds with the pointy end turned towards her round nose. Sara continued speaking. "Then I will record a song and sign on with a record company, and I will make even more money. That's what's going to happen when we move to LA." They climbed in to the back seat of their little black Honda. Mom and Dad were in the front, and as dad pulled out of the driveway, Kaycee put her elbow on the armrest and rested her chin on her fist. "But if you become a famous singer," Kaycee said suddenly. "Then we'll be away all the time on tour." "I can go with my manager," Sara said. "That means no Mom, no Dad, no you." "Meano," Kaycee grumbled. "You're not even fit to be a meanie. You're a meano." "Who says Sara is becoming a famous singer?" Mom asked from the front seat. "Sara says," Kaycee replied. "I never said I was actally going to," said Sara. "I just said it was an oppurtunity." "You did say you were going to," Kaycee reminded her. "Shut up." Sara commanded. "We'll see," Mom said. "Are you going to become a famous actress, too?" Both Kaycee and Sara knew mom was teasing. "Yes, mother," Sara answered coldly. "If anyone wants to hire me, then of course." Mom seemed amused, but did not say anything more. It was a long time before they stopped at the motel for the night. Sara and Kaycee would have to share a bed that night. It had taken quite a battle to get Sara to sleep in the same bed as Kaycee. "But mom," she had whined. "Kaycee snores and flops all over the place. Remember when we lived in Oklahoma and I shared a room with her? I couldn't sleep the whole year we lived there because she wouldn't stop snoring. And you know how every time we move on the first night we usually share the air matress? Well, one time in the middle of the night she flopped so hard she sent me flying. I can't share a bed with her, even just for one night. It's not fair." "Fair is overrated," was Kaycee's input. I would like to hear totally honest opinions. This is just the first page of the story. Thanks for reading.

I've been looking around for some hotels or preferably motels to stay in overnight while in Tulsa but all of the ones I've called have said you need to be 21. These included Motel 6, EconoLodge, Best Western, Desert Hills. Also I have a valid ID and check card. I don't know what the deal is with having to be 21. Is there anywhere you can rent a room overnight when you're 18 for sure? Thank you.

Resolved Question: Major City Stays... How Far in Advance Should I Make Reservations?

My family is moving across country soon. We're traveling mainly along the I-40, and stopping in major cities including Springfield, Missouri,------Oklahoma City---- and Flagstaff, Arizona. This is our first time traveling like this and I wondered if anyone could suggest how far in advance we should make reservations at our motels? I have all of them picked out. We leave at the very end of July. Would it be reasonable to book our stays now? Thanks in advance for any help.

Resolved Question: do you like the first 2 chp.or my book. Rated M. E-mail me tnkerbell0102010@yahoo.com?

My Foster Care Nightmare “Just a small town girl living in a lonely world, She took the midnight train going anywhere” HA, sounds like the story of my life! My name is Michelle Johnson, and in fact, that’s how I ended up here in the big city of Los Angeles! Well actually, it went more like this...” Just an Okalahoma girl living in a revolting world, she took the 2:00p.m bus going to L.A.!” Yeah, that’s more like it! Any way the point is I’m here and I am NOT going back. I have survived this long on my own. It’s been a month and three days since I’ve gotten here and I’m still alive. That’s more then I can say for some people. I’m still looking for a job, as a waitress, preferably. I have a little over sixty dollars left. That should leave me enough money to rent a room at the Motel 6 for at least two more nights. I’m not worried about eating, if I go down to the motel dinning room in the morning a round 9:00a.m. I know I will be able to get the scraps of breakfast that are left on the tables after everyone has departed. I will do the same for lunch and dinner at 11:00 and 5:00. Now is probably a good time to tell you about myself. When I was fifteen I was placed in a foster home with a couple of sick bastard’s named Susan and Carlos, who live down in Oklahoma City. That was almost a year and a half ago. My mom decided to get strung out on crack, and as soon as the police found out what she was up to, they snatched me up and stuck me in a home that was more dysfunctional then the home I had with my mother. My mother was the only person I could ever depend on, until the drugs took her over that is. Her name was Marissa, She was beautiful. She had long black hair, rose colored lips, and a body to die for. She worked as a “professional dancer” at least that’s what she wanted me to think. Sure she wasn’t the “role model” type, but she always did what she thought was best for me. She was my best friend. I told her everything, and now, I have no one to talk to except my self and this thing that’s growing inside of me. Damn it. Damn the justice system. If they would have minded their own business I wouldn’t be in this situation and I could see my mother again. My foster family appeared to be perfect. But like they say “never judge a book by its cover” They had a beautiful house, and four other young foster children. Susan was a nurse’s assistant at a hospital; And Carlos was a lawyer who worked from home. I don’t think I have ever hated someone as much as I hate Carlos! If I would have never had him in my life, I wouldn’t be in the condition I’m in now. As soon as I was placed in the foster home with Susan and Carlos my life ended as I knew it. The first day I was in the home I received a “welcome beating” he wanted to “show me how things would go while I was living there.” “Laying down the law” at least that’s what he called it. I ran to Susan as soon as she got home from work and told her everything. I was hysterical of course. She just pretended to be oblivious to the matter and the beatings continued. Of course I wasn’t the only one who was beaten on a daily basis, the two older children were beat every-other day. Although, I seemed to be Carlos’s favorite. I soon figured out why that was. It was cold and dark on that Monday. There were a lot of wrecks due to the snow, so Susan had to be called in to work to help with the injuries. It was just me and Carlos in the house that day. I was in my room getting ahead of my algebra homework trying to stay out of his way when suddenly; he wondered into my room and told me to sit on the bed because he wanted to talk to me. I did as instructed to avoid another horrendous beating. Carlos then came and set on the bed beside me. “I don’t like treating you like this” he said as he ran his fingers down my back and touched my long black hair. “It doesn’t have to be so difficult for you here… if you would do one thing for me” I knew what he was thinking. I refused to let a man push me around like that and so I shouted, “Forget it you creep!! I see the way you look at me behind Susan’s back. I will NOT be a part of your sick game!” I tried to get up and run from the room but he grabbed my arm and threw me on the bed. He held me down and started ripping off my clothes. “STOP IT” “GET OFF” “HELP” I was trying to fight him off but he was just too strong! The next thing I remember was him beating me until I was finally knocked unconscious. The next morning I woke up in my bed. I was so confused and scared. Why was I stripped? And why was there blood everywhere?? A flash back shoot through my mind and I suddenly remembered everything. I was so freighted that I started trembling and crying. I put on some clothes, ran to the bathroom, and locked the door behind me. I was looking in the mirror trying to locate where on my body the blood was coming from. I examined my face carefully. My tooth was cracked and my face was all bruised and swollen. I had a small cut right a

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on this beginning?

The city lights fade in the distance, a soon to be distant memory. I slump down in my seat and let the sound of Framing Hanley fill my ears. I blast the volume to drown out the oldies. My poor Zune only goes up to 20. It does the job for now though. I am not even upset this time; it’s that time of year. Mom feels trapped in a relationship or in a job and we pack up and move. In my sixteen years of existence I have moved twelve times. I moved from Colorado when mom left dad at age three. There was a move at least once a year since. Mom has taken me with her to Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, Washington, South Dakota, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and now from New York. I knew we were headed south and that was about it. The night grows from dusk to dark to black. I guess mom has decided to make it an all-nighter. I close my eyes and drift away to my dreams. Here there is an island where mom cannot escape so I get to stay. I have friends that are not from the Internet and a place that I can call home not just a house. When my eyes flutter open the sun is brightening on the horizon. Mom nudges me and points out the window. We’ve hit South Carolina. I wonder if this is our stop but mom says she just needs a nap. We pull in at a motel and mom checks us in. Six hours later we are on the road again. I have the taste of chili in my mouth from lunch. Another day passes like this and we have now hit Texas. We pull down a street that says Norton. Mom stops in front of a small yellow house and parks in the driveway. “Here we go kiddo.” “Could we have gotten further from New York?” “Yeah Mexico.” “Ha. Do I get own bathroom?” “Own room, bathroom, and study room.” “Awesome.” “Cut the sarcasm and get out.” I'm 16 and write like crazy. I did check a map you can go from NY start going 2 VA the down to SC then hang a left and go through GA, AL, MS, LA, then wala TX
