Resolved Question: Road Trip Suggestions (NW to SW and back in USA)?
I have always dreamed of this road trip:
Seattle, along Oregon and California coasts to San Francisco, cut east to Las Vegas, north a little to Zion/Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park in Utah, then south to Grand Canyon (AZ), see some New Mexico cliff dwelling ruins, up through Colorado and to Salt Lake City, UT, then through Yellowstone/Grand Teton toward Sun Valley, ID, then Spokane, WA and back to Seattle.
I have plugged it all in to Google maps, and gotten a nice little trip plan. However, I am not sure what I even want to see, or why I want to go to all these places. I love hiking & camping (would probably drive a small sedan and bring a tent - and plenty of motel money, too). I also love photography and the scenery of the Southwest.
My question is: Have you been to these places? Better, have you road-tripped in this area? What did you like? What was off-the-beaten-path? What didn't you like? Any revisions you'd make? (I know, I know, it's all based on what I want to see - but just give me some suggestions to start with.)
Also, any general road trip suggestions? (e.g. "You won't like driving as much as you think you will!")
Thanks!

Resolved Question: Going on a road trip, and need help with it?
So I will be going on a road trip on the 18th. From Pasadena to Oregon. So we will be driving a 1988 Honda Civic Hatchback. And probably at night because it might be really hot during the day, so we were trying to go at night just because theres no A/C in the car (the owner before took it out due to a crash or something, don't know all the information why) and so the heat won't get to the engine or anything
The part of Oregon that we are going to is Medford. It will be me, my boyfriend, his dad, his girlfriends, and his girlfriend's daughter. But we were going to take my boyfriends car because his dad and everyone else were going to drive up to Washington for other reasons, and we didn't want to go up that far.
So anyways, how much will it be for gas, and we are going to stay in a motel or something, and we need a cheap motel. I was thinking about a Motel 6 and just paying for one person and then sneak the other one in.
How much do you think gas will cost to get there?
And a motel will be?(If you have any suggestions to a cheap but good motel please let me know) I'm not sure how many days we will be there. His dad and all were planning on being back the 28th from Washington. So we will probably only spend like 5 days or less there.
Please help me so I can figure everything out.

Heres a website for like the gas mileage of a civic.
My boyfriend has driven up there before. He has family that lives up there, so he has been on the 5 so many times. And we know for a fact his car can make it because we just did a lot of work on it. Plus it probably can't be as windy as it is on the 14 fwy which we have gone on plenty of times because my family lives out there. We don't want to take a amtrak or anything back. We want to drive the full way.

Resolved Question: homework help please?
i need help with number 14
(1) We decided to climb Mt. Rainer, but it was a long, hard journey to Washington
State from Medford, Oregon. (2) We were worried about our likely sucess in the cold
enviroment of the upper slopes. (3) For one thing, Marty was broke and anxius about
having warm clothes for climbing. (4) To solve that problem, the rest of us choose to
chip in and get him good cold-whether gear. (5) At last, we set off for Mt. Rainer. (6) But,
when we arrived, it was snowing hard. (7) A local guide recommended that we spend the
night in a motel in Tacoma.

Resolved Question: Affordable, temporary places to stay in Portland, Oregon?
I'm hoping to move to Oregon but am trying to budget for a 1-month stay perhaps in a motel? Not sure. The problem is that I would need somewhere to stay while I found work, and it can't be an apartment since in order to sign a lease I would need a job. Is there any sorta of half-way house or extended stay hotel that's "AFFORDABLE"?

Resolved Question: Why are so many motels owned by Indians?
Not American Indians, but families from India. I recently stayed at a Budget Inn in Florida that was owned by an Indian family; then in Oregon stayed at a Motel 6, Days Inn, and two other cheap motels that were all owned by Indian families. Five out of five, spread across 3,000 miles, would be an incredible coincidence.
There are three responses so far but still no answer. There must be some cultural reason why Indians are driven to the hospitality industry.

Resolved Question: Roommate staying with us KICKS at the dog?
My parents are graciously housing an adult friend of theirs who is from Oregon, up to Alaska to work at the mines. To my knowledge he doesn't pay rent (and when he does, it's $300... WAY less then it should be, it'd cost him more to stay at a sleazy motel!) and he is basically getting on everyone's nerves.. mostly because his lack of rent and usage of stuff around the house (coffeemaker, shower, sometimes food, etc) Mom and Dad have done a poor job at conveying their wishes to be paid rent on time, monthly, but here is MY problem.
I always knew he didnt care for Piper, my 2 year old Aussie, and prefer the little 3 month puppy, Lacey. Piper barks at him a lot, so i "understand" why.
HOWEVER
last night i was in my room, and i heard him so i looked down the hall. I saw him pick up the puppy and KICK AT Piper to get her to go away. I was shocked and didnt say anything.
If i catch him again, I need a single, short and to the point message conveying that he is not allowed to kick at my dogs. Sometimes I wish Piper would bite, because he would deserve it for that. It was not enough to be actual "abuse" but that's not the point. Kicking at my dogs is unacceptable.
Parents are lame, they won't say anything because they are pushovers. It's time for me to tke matters into my own hands, starting with the dogs.
Also, when he plays with the puppy and Piper comes up to play, he is very rough when he shoves her away. He is just rough in general with her.
