A New Castle, Pennsylvania, boutique lodge is like a work of art - hard to define, but you know one when you see one. Resolved Question: I edited my chapter with more detail.. what else should i do?

“Dorothy!Dorothy!Get up!” “Mom? What happened?” Dorothy said frightened and tired. “I'll explain later. Get up and start packing your stuff. We're getting out of here.” As the 14 year old Dorothy Walker sat up in her bed tiredly stretching, her mother was stuffing Dorothy's tight blue skinny jeans and shirts into a huge luggage. Dorothy looked over at her alarm clock. 4:37 AM. Dorothy was scared of what was going on. “Can you at least tell me what I have to pack for?” Dorothy asked. “Just pack a bunch of warm blankets and pillows, some canned foods and get Abraham ready. Leave the rest to me.” Dorothy's mom was rushing across the room. She was packing everything. Dorothy's mom was panicking and mumbling words really fast Dorothy could not catch. Dorothy sprang into action and did as her mother told her. She packed warm blankets and pillows. She got some canned foods. And she got their 5 month old tiny beagle on his blue and black checkered leash and packed food for him. She still didn't understand what was going on. “Hey mom?” “Yes honey?” Answered Dorothy's mom Lisa in a hurried voice. “Wheres dad?” Dorothy asked curiously. “He's withdrawing some money that we need in cash right now. He should be on his way back already.” “Why do we need the money?” “I told you, I'm going to explain later. Now move all the things out side. Make sure you have everything you need. Bring all your money, pens paper and a binder. Okay?” “Okay.” Dorothy was a very obedient girl. She always did as she was told. She was just an average teenager. A brown hair, brown eyes, American girl. Her father John got home. He was rushing, opening the back door of the car, and starting to pack everything into the back of the van. Lisa rushed Dorothy into the car. Placed the little puppy they call Abe onto Dorothy's lap and were ready to drive off. They drove out of the driveway. Onto the empty streets. With the sun at dawn, Dorothy looked at the time. 5:20. They were on the high way. There was silence. There usually never is when they are in the car. The radio would be on the highest it can be, the windows rolled down, listening to any random station, The whole family would be singing and laughing, people in cars driving by would stare and think they were crazy. “Where are we going”Dorothy asked “Well right now, we are still in New Jersey. We are planning to get to Middle Lancaster in Pennsylvania by tonight. We are going to try to find a motel there.” said John “I don't understand. Are we going to visit family or something?” “No, someone tried to kill your father, he almost got shot so we have to get out of the state.”said Dorothy's mother “Who would do that? Dad never did anything wrong.” “I got no idea, baby. People are just crazy these days.”said Dorothy's mother “Why don't we go to the police? They would do something.” “We can't. They said it is impossible to catch them. The bullet the guy shot had no finger prints or anything.” Said Dorothy's mother “Oh.” Abe barked. He had to pee. John pulled over. Dorothy let Abe do his business. She looked at her watch: 8:42 AM. She got back into her seat. She was quite peckish. “Mom, I'm getting hungry.” Lisa handed Dorothy a bag of potato chips. “Go to sleep honey. In a few we can stop and eat some food we got in the back.” “Okay” So Dorothy finished her bag of chips, hugged Abraham and went to sleep what do you think? Any tips? This is only the first chapter and first time attempting to write a book so i need help!! Omg! Its like im writing this book then out of no where i get another idea! im going to try to finish this one quick!

Resolved Question: Large # of out of town guests - what % will probably show up?

We are not having an exotic wedding location. We live in Pennsylvania and alot of our family is a 2-3 hour drive away. A few people will need to travel by plane. We have decently priced rooms blocked $89/night for the hotel and $39/night for the motel. It is a Saturday afternoon into evening wedding with the usual - cocktail hour & dinner. We have just been surprised by the # of no's coming in lately so I am curious as to others experiences in similar situations. We are close to 30% declining (that assumes some people will say yes that we haven't heard from yet) and I am wondering if this is typical or if it is going to up - - because if it goes up much more I am bordering on not meeting the room minimum guaranteed guest count. What has your experience been for weddings with a large portion of out of town guests? Sophies... the funny thing is the people who have to fly are the ones saying yes (I even have people coming from another country) - - it is the 2-3hr away drivers that are declining. To be honest, it is a little annoying that they expect my fiance & I to jump in the car and come running for every little thing that goes on in the family. I don't know who got the idea that I am budgeting based on the # that will show up. That is totally not the case. I selected my venue & established my budget with the assumption that all invited people would show up -- just so I was absolutely sure we had the space and money to afford it. My question has nothing to do with the budget or size of the venue.

Resolved Question: I live in Arkansas and I am in Pennsylvania right now.?

I live in Arkansas and I am in Pennsylvania right now. I have a greendot prepaid visa card. The motel charged my motel for one week to many. I realized this Saturday, we called greendot, and they had him fax a release to reverse charges. I checked out of motel this morning, greendot has not credited my account back. They told me it would be 10 business days before it would be posted. I have pay checks in my mailbox at home but no way to get them. I told them I only had $60 left and was 1500 miles from home and had to be back at work on july 1st. They insist there is nothing they can do, I would have to wait. If I have to stay in a shelter here waiting for another week, and lose my job, do I have a legitimate lawsuit? They refuse to cooperate with me. I know there is a way that they can credit my account back, but they say it isnt possible. I just dont believe there is no such thing as cant. What can I do about this? The motel manager faxed the credit card company, to reverse charges 3 days ago, yet they will not release for another 7.

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on this beginning?

The city lights fade in the distance, a soon to be distant memory. I slump down in my seat and let the sound of Framing Hanley fill my ears. I blast the volume to drown out the oldies. My poor Zune only goes up to 20. It does the job for now though. I am not even upset this time; it’s that time of year. Mom feels trapped in a relationship or in a job and we pack up and move. In my sixteen years of existence I have moved twelve times. I moved from Colorado when mom left dad at age three. There was a move at least once a year since. Mom has taken me with her to Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, Washington, South Dakota, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and now from New York. I knew we were headed south and that was about it. The night grows from dusk to dark to black. I guess mom has decided to make it an all-nighter. I close my eyes and drift away to my dreams. Here there is an island where mom cannot escape so I get to stay. I have friends that are not from the Internet and a place that I can call home not just a house. When my eyes flutter open the sun is brightening on the horizon. Mom nudges me and points out the window. We’ve hit South Carolina. I wonder if this is our stop but mom says she just needs a nap. We pull in at a motel and mom checks us in. Six hours later we are on the road again. I have the taste of chili in my mouth from lunch. Another day passes like this and we have now hit Texas. We pull down a street that says Norton. Mom stops in front of a small yellow house and parks in the driveway. “Here we go kiddo.” “Could we have gotten further from New York?” “Yeah Mexico.” “Ha. Do I get own bathroom?” “Own room, bathroom, and study room.” “Awesome.” “Cut the sarcasm and get out.” I'm 16 and write like crazy. I did check a map you can go from NY start going 2 VA the down to SC then hang a left and go through GA, AL, MS, LA, then wala TX

Resolved Question: Will living in a hotel or room with children cause problems with custody?

In this economy, downsized by a greedy, dishonest employer that contested everyone's unemployment, I'm in a place where there may be a period of time between this apartment and another. Paying Child Support, I need to report address changes. Can living in a room per week or motel with them temporarily cause problems with custody in Pennsylvania? Four decades and this is all new to me. Thanks for your input ahead of time.

Resolved Question: Why won't my mom let me help her?!?

My mom just separated from her husband b/c of a domestic abuse situation. Right now she is staying in a motel b/c I guess she thinks she will be a burden on me if she stays at my place even though she is more than welcome! Well, she found a place in Pennsylvania where the rest of our family lives, and now that she got approved for an apartment she is having second thoughts!! She is making every excuse in the world not to go. I understand it's hard to end a relationship when you love somebody, but isn't your safety more important than love?? Also, she has three daughters, wouldn't you think she would want to be set an example for us not to let men ever put their hands on us?!! Has anybody ever been in this situation? What can I do, b/c I'm started to think she will go back to him since he is being nice to her (even though she got him arrested)?? I just don't know what I'd do if he ever hurt her worst, or even killed her!!
