Hilton Head Island is one of the top tourist destinations of South Carolina. It is a city full of history and at the same time enjoys a modern cosmopolitan atmosphere. The old town has some of the finest historical architecture, in contrast with the gleaming modern structures in the new town.

You can get there by flying on a South Carolina Airline which offer budget flights daily to a nearby airport. Alternatively you can take a train or Greyhound bus from a number of other destinations.

You can stay in one of Hilton Head Island's many elegant resort hotels, or for the budget traveler, the city offers a number of inns and motels. If you are staying longer, you might consider renting a holiday condo or apartment.

When you are in Hilton Head Island you can simply enjoy the sun, or there are a number of other opportunities for sightseeing - a visit to the city's museums and galleries is always worthwhile. Alternatively you could explore the narrow streets of the old town on foot, shopping for souvenirs in the many charming designer boutiques. On Sundays the central park is always full of young people who meet for picnics under the shady trees. For the more active, there are opportunities to play golf or tennis. Those who enjoy water-sports can go fishing or swimming. You will probably want to hire a yacht or motor cruiser for the day to reach the best locations.

Getting around Hilton Head Island couldn't be more easy. The city is well served by taxicabs and a modern bus network. If you want to venture further afield you might hire a car and take of to see the sleepy villages in the South Carolina countryside, or drive to the coast to while away the afternoon in one of the many secluded areas along the coastline.

Hilton Head Island comes to life in the evening. The city has dozens of excellent bistros, delis, and restaurants, and there are many lively bars and clubs to while away the night into the early hours of the morning.

Whatever your interest, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, has something unique to offer.

First that doofus governor of theirs Mark Sanford starts thinkin with his lil brain and spends a whole bunch of taxpayer money on booty-boondoggles down to Taco Town to get busy with his sweet, smokin Senorita. Anyway when his wife learned about this outrage she moved her kids out of the governor's mansion and prayed to Jesus that her husband would get butt cancer. Then the chairman of the Muckawucka County State Republican Party, Jubilation L. Watersby, is discovered at the state boy scout jamboree doin a ten-way with Pack 232 of the First Columbia Baptist Church. When pulled out of the tent still connected to two or three of the younger wolf scouts, Watersby explained that one too many some-mores, aided and abetted by a few cans of amyl nitrate, had gotten him "all wee-weed up." When officers of the South Carolina State Troopers attempted to inform Watersby's wife of this outrage, they discovered her semi-mummified body seated in an old pine rocking chair looking out the window of his dilapidated motel. Then in the worst scandal of all, some ex-state representative current assistant DA dweeb named Roland Corning gets caught in flagrante delicto up to no good with a 18 year old "exotic dancer" from the Platinum Plus Gentlemen's Club. The two of them was makin the beast with two backs in a secluded part of the Elmwood Cemetery -- a cemetery, daggum it !!! -- when a cop chased them down after they tried to escape. When he searched the ol boy's car he found some "sex medicine" and a whole butt-load of sex toys, which ol Roland explained he always kept in the car "just in case." Well at least he had the good taste to go with them Platinum Plus floozies instead of the usual Dew Dropp Inn skanks. His wife found out about this gambit believe it or not when the cop called her to identify her husband, since the two of them worked together (or more accurately used to work together) in the DA's office. Yes, I know all three of these stories seem too weird to be real but daggum it I swear to Jesus only one of them is fake. Ten points to the one of yall who can tell me in the most eloquent and humorous manner which of these tales is the tall one. In any event I reckon that "just in case" is going to become the new "wide stance". Ohhh, sorry, Jemma. Last time I looked, Edwards was from North Carolina, and he was a Dem. People have constitutional right to fly any flag they want. Wilson is not racist. The enablers always make race an issue. The Confederate Flag is part of America and it is not going anywhere. Here is the story that started this question. The NAACP needs to grow up and address crime in their community and Fatherless families and teenage pregnancy and low educational aspirations. The latest fallout from Wilson's outburst, however, is the first time race has been injected into the controversy. "As African-American newspaper publishers we stand in solidarity with the NAACP and fully support the economic boycott of South Carolina," NNPA Chairman Danny J. Bakewell Sr. said. "Rep. Wilson's remarks were racist, disrespectful, and a disingenuous violation -- not only of President Obama -- but to the institution of the presidency and only solidified our position and the importance in not spending black dollars where black people are not respected. "The continued public and blatant disrespect of President Barack Obama by members of Congress will not be rewarded with our dollars nor will a state that continues to uphold America's shameful past by flying the Confederate flag," he added. Wilson's office could not be reached for comment Friday. Established 69 years ago, the NNPA includes 200 black community newspapers across the country. The NAACP boycott has reportedly had mixed results, with some saying it has cut into tourism and affected state beaches, restaurants and motels, among other businesses, and others saying it has only hurt black-owned businesses in the state. Are there any good and safe beaches to vacation at in va.,or north carolina,south carolina,new jersey or maryland.Are there any people that possibly may have had some good experiences at any of these beaches or maybe even live near or on the beaches?Anyone with some good inside information on the best spots to visit?My wife and I have been married 10 years and never been able to afford to go on vacation and I want to make this happen this year,thanks for any ideas anyone may have.
