Resolved Question: Did you ever run out of money when you were traveling ?

My friend Sam and I live in Montana . We took Sam’s son, Ben, to South Dakota this month . Most of the money Sam took was on a a debit card from his bank . We took tour bus # 1 on Monday . The driver charged according to mileage and time spent, so we couldn’t get a fixed amount to begin with . We took tour bus # 2 to Mount Rushmore on Tuesday . This tour charged a fixed rate for every passenger, so we knew exactly how much it was going to be . We ALMOST took tour bus # 1 to Deadwood on Wednesday, but the driver wasn’t set up to take debit or credit cards . Sam couldn’t get a cash advance from an ATM machine, our motel couldn’t give Sam a cash advance, and the banks probably weren’t open at that point . This tour bus driver found us another tour that could take debit or credit cards . THIS tour charged according to the mileage she drove, the time she spent, expenses, and for the number of passengers, so, again, we couldn’t get a fixed amount to begin with . The first two tours really weren’t too expensive, but the third tour really laid us low financially . Sam had to call his sister, and she put enough money on his card to where we could eat until we got home . Sam’s sister gave him a small lecture ( “You should have spent your money wisely !” ) . I figure things like this can happen to anybody, no matter how wisely they spend their money . These tours can’t always give you an idea of how much they’re going to charge . You can also run into an unexpected expense . Did we do so bad ? Couldn’t this have happened to anybody ? Did we spend our money foolishly, or did events conspire against us ? Did you ever run out of money when you were traveling ? What did you do ?

Resolved Question: What is your opinion on this beginning?

The city lights fade in the distance, a soon to be distant memory. I slump down in my seat and let the sound of Framing Hanley fill my ears. I blast the volume to drown out the oldies. My poor Zune only goes up to 20. It does the job for now though. I am not even upset this time; it’s that time of year. Mom feels trapped in a relationship or in a job and we pack up and move. In my sixteen years of existence I have moved twelve times. I moved from Colorado when mom left dad at age three. There was a move at least once a year since. Mom has taken me with her to Oklahoma, New Mexico, California, Washington, South Dakota, Arkansas, Kentucky, Kansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and now from New York. I knew we were headed south and that was about it. The night grows from dusk to dark to black. I guess mom has decided to make it an all-nighter. I close my eyes and drift away to my dreams. Here there is an island where mom cannot escape so I get to stay. I have friends that are not from the Internet and a place that I can call home not just a house. When my eyes flutter open the sun is brightening on the horizon. Mom nudges me and points out the window. We’ve hit South Carolina. I wonder if this is our stop but mom says she just needs a nap. We pull in at a motel and mom checks us in. Six hours later we are on the road again. I have the taste of chili in my mouth from lunch. Another day passes like this and we have now hit Texas. We pull down a street that says Norton. Mom stops in front of a small yellow house and parks in the driveway. “Here we go kiddo.” “Could we have gotten further from New York?” “Yeah Mexico.” “Ha. Do I get own bathroom?” “Own room, bathroom, and study room.” “Awesome.” “Cut the sarcasm and get out.” I'm 16 and write like crazy. I did check a map you can go from NY start going 2 VA the down to SC then hang a left and go through GA, AL, MS, LA, then wala TX

Resolved Question: Road trip advice...any at this point?

A friend and I want to take a road trip to south dakota (we live in LA calif). My largest concern is will it be cheaper renting a car or buying a junk one or is it possible to go by train? It will take about 600 dlls. to get there and back and that doesn't even include stops we want to make on the way. Around how much are motels in utah, Wyoming and s dakota? I guess sleeping in the car is our best bet (but I doubt that two mexicans sleeping in a car is going to go well with the fine folks in utah and wyoming) and taking showers at truck stops. How did hippies do it? I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Resolved Question: I changed my mind at the last minute when my family wanted to adopt my twins.?

Now, i realize that with my biplolar, i was in a very vulnerable position. the papers were signed to an agency, there has been no hearing, and the father had specifically said, that as long as i am comfortable with the family and it is not my family, then he is okay with it. they lied to him. and did not tell him who they were going to 3 days after the birth, without even talking to social servvices, without the adoption even being finalized, they took them to south dakota where they were cuurrently living in a motel, and now they live in a small home, and they are struggling financially. the major issue is that they said they would involve me in their lives, they have not, and they have decieved me and i feel uncomfortable about the situation, now understanding the major manipulation and unsupportive family i have. i would like to place them in a family near to colorado, denver where i live where i can be involved in their lives. i wonder if the adoption was legal, i feel manipulated
