I lived in Burlington for a year and then moved back to the south to be with my family. I now realize that living in a red state filled with intolerant war mongers is driving me insane. So I have a possible job lined up in st albans and have the following questions. 1) I dont plan on taking my car to keep my expenses very low. Can I catch a greyhound bus, train or flight to st albans directly? 2) I liked the church st area of burlington. is there a similar cluster of bars, restaurants, etc in st albans? 3) i'll be staying at the cadillac motel for a few weeks. Are the local bars, pizza shops, etc walking distance from this motel ? 4) im a tree hugger with a full beard. Will I fit in with the locals? 5) is there any public transportation, like buses, in town? 6) is there a mall or a movie theater in town? 7) can I easily access everything in town without a car? (since ill be leaving my car behind) 8) without a car, how do I get to burlington and montreal? than you for helping me with my questions.

Myself and three friends would like to drive to Hampton Beach from northern vermont sometime toward the end of June. It's about 255 mile drive. -what can we expect to spend if we stay there for 2 nights and 3 days? this includes activities, gas, food, etc. I would just like a rough estimate, i know it really depends on what we do but i'm just looking for a price range. -also, what are some activities we can do? we're teenagers if that's important. -do we need to be 18 to rent 2 motel rooms? one of us is. sorry for all the questions! any info would be really appreciated!

Resolved Question: I'm going on on road trip in a Month, a long one. What shoud I pack?

I'm Driving from Vermont, to Florida. Basically. I'm stopping in NY to pick up one of my "Homies" lol. I've never exactly made a trip this far in a car before. So i really do need some guidance. Like, food, fair driving time between us, sleeping, clothes, etc. This may seem obsurd, but I'm taking my '93 Honda accord. hehe. But its only got 26,000 Miles on it. I took it out of the garage a few weeks ago, and got it running better than my '09. I'm definitely confident in it making it there. but also, how much money should I be prepared to spend? I'm 23, and my freind is 22. Thankfully, I never got to the point were I'd eat my self outa house and home, so I'm not too worried about that. But I also don't wanna stop and sleepat motels, Because its a waste to me. We both can pass out in the seat pretty easily, as we agree'd upon. lol. So, what to be prepared for? the longest trip I've made so far was to NC, but thats not very comparable to FL, since then i was also traveling solo.

I will be traveling this coming thursday (Christmas day) from Little Rock, AR to New Haven, CT (where my brother lives). We're gonna have a road trip to east coast states, since i've never been there before, do you guys have any idea the interesting places to visit in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. We prefer the places where we can take beautiful scenery photos, unique landmarks. Also we really like eating and trying new stuff, so what are the recommended places to eat (of course budget is our major consideration since we're only college students.. lol). We don't do skiing. Please give us some trip ideas and tips (places, foods, motels, transportation, cost, route, etc) Thanks a lot... we really appreciate it!! ;)

Everything was perfect. My father, mother and I were resting comfortably in our room. The snow masked all sound, and I was watching it fall from the strangely shaped window above my strange-smelling motel bed. I sighed as I turned my pillow over, trying to find the cold side. Besides some ice and disagreements over what music to play, the drive to Vermont was relatively uneventful. I blared my iPod half the trip, while my wonderful father interrupted me every ten minutes of so to point out some herd of farm animals or a funny license plate. It was a relief to me and my bladder when we finally reached our destination: the Andirons Lodge. While the room was fairly small, it was cozy. I could imagine a fire blazing in the little fireplace. And anyway, we were too tired to care (and our legs were too cramped from the three hour trip). Suddenly, I was jolted awake by the sound which was the equivalent of a motor-boat engine or a low flying plane: my father’s snoring. I popped in my mother’s earplugs and tried to get back to sleep. I woke up to the sound of my father trying to push the door open and the sight of the tundra outside my window. I looked at the red numbers on the alarm clock: 11 o’clock. “DAD! Why didn’t you wake me up?! We should be on the slopes by now!” “THIS GODDAMN DOOR WON’T FRIGGING OPEN!!” Father’s head was beginning to resemble a ripe tomato. There was sweat on his brow as he pushed the stubborn door with all his might. “Dad, I think we’ve established the door won’t open…” I realized that my mouth tasted like morning breath. I ventured into the bathroom to find a nice toothbrush and some mouthwash, but the only thing on the sink was Mom’s hairdryer. I went back into the bedroom and tore through my suitcase, but no toothbrush could be found. Dad was laying on the bed, hitting his head against the headboard. “We’re stuck in here until the goddamn plow comes.” He moaned. “Dad, would you happen to know where my toothbrush is?” “How would I know? Hey, that actually sounds like a good idea. I’ll be right back.” Dad walked the five steps from the bed to the bathroom and came back red-faced. “DIANE! CHRISTINA! WHICH ONE OF YOU HAS MY TOOTHBRUSH?!” Mom and I both claimed innocence (after all, why would we want his toothbrush?), but Father still insisted on going through our suitcases too. Mom asked Father where the last place he saw it was. “Erm… at home I suppose…” Dad smacked himself in the forehead, and began to take on his characteristic red-purple color. With Dad and I both having no toothbrush, mouthwash, or mints, we were left with horrible bad breath. “Hey, Diane?” my father asked, “would YOU happen to have a toothbrush?” “No!” Mother replied hurriedly, “I couldn’t find mine either this morning.” Now, my mother is a terrible liar, so Dad and I exchanged an excited glance. I walked up to her and discovered that she had surprisingly minty-fresh breath. Dad and I waited for Mom to get up to use the facilities, and then we immediately ransacked the room. We flipped things over, and looked in the most obscure places for the toothbrush in question. “FOUND IT!” I yelled. Mom had hidden her toothbrush under her pillow! Mother burst out of the bathroom. “Give… me… my… TOOTHBRUSH!” Mother ran at me at full speed. I threw the toothbrush to Dad, and followed him into the bathroom. We immediately locked the door.
