Voting Question: What is wrong with my brother? How would you parent him if he were your son?

My brother is 24. My family moved to Florida the year after he graduated HS. He was okay with it. He worked part time jobs in the mean time until he started college at 20. He'd only go in the spring because it'd give him medical insurance for the whole year until 23. He'd drop 1/2 the classes he took because he was lazy. He than gave up on college and wanted to get his CDL license to drive a truck. He has stalled on getting a CDL B for 2 1/2 years though because he didn't do well for CDL A (tractor trailer) even though they refunded his money. He thinks no one would hire him until he's 25 for insurance. In the last 15 months, he's only worked one month (with Fed Ex job seasonally during Xmas). He still spends a lot of money going on small vacations. He ran up $5,000 in credit card debt in 1 year. Throughout most of that time he said he wouldn't work any job unless it was one he wanted (mainly truck driving). He and my dad hated Florida and cried about wanting to move home. My dad didn't like it because of work. We went back to NJ. My parents maintained owning their home down there though. My parents and I want to move back to Florida if they can like up work. My brother blames my parents for destroying his life (even though he has nothing here and we live an hour from where we used to live). The home in Florida is beautiful (2 levels, has a pool, gated community). The home in NJ is not that nice. My parents said they'd never charge either of us rent. My dad said he'll continue to pay for his car insurance. He said he'll even pay our gas and motels to get us down there (I'm 21). My brother thinks my dad should pay for him to go on a vacation to West Virginia to meet a girl off the internet. He thinks my dad should give him money to go back up to NJ and visit. He said he'll come up every 6 weeks either way even if he's not working. He said he'd consider living in AC 4 days during the week in hotels (getting free comped rooms but he has to pay tax) and live in his car the other 3. I told him he has it made compared to most 24 year olds. I said he should be greatful he has patient loving parents. I said you're choosing to move at your age. No one is making you. Most people think he should seek counseling.

Resolved Question: Looking for a place to stay in VA Beach and/or Ocean City Maryland?

Soooo, I might go on vacation this summer for the first time in....a few years lol. (with my husband, baby and gramma) And I'm wondering, what's your favorite place to stay in Ocean City Maryland or Virginia Beach? ((oceanview/oceanfront locations only please)) What were your experiences with housekeeping/appliances/location? Was it noisy at night? **loud parties/crying kids etc.** We'd like experiences with hotels, motels and condos. How much it cost for a week or thereabouts would be nice as well. :) I'm also looking for the name of a restaurant in ocean city....i ***think*** it might be called Macky's but I'm not sure it had a large wooden mermaid above the host stand. It was bayside and you could eat out on the beach... Awesome :) Thanks muchly dr_nigel :D

Resolved Question: Not religious, dumb/funny laws in America?

I am American and proud of it. So, I am not anti-America. It's just funny. New York: 1. It is against the law to throw a ball at someone’s head for fun. 2. Slippers are not to be worn after 10:00 PM.' 3. The penalty for jumping off a building is death. hahahaha duh! California: 1. No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour. 2. Nobody is allowed to ride a bicycle in a swimming pool. 3. Sunshine is guaranteed to the masses. Maryland: 1. It’s illegal to take a lion to the movies. 2. Oral sex can not be given or received anywhere. Florida: 1. It is illegal to sell your children. 2. Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. 3. It is considered an offense to shower naked. 4. You may not fart in a public place after 6 P. North Carolina: 1. It’s against the law to sing off key. 2. If a man and a woman who aren’t married go to a hotel/motel and register themselves as married then, according to state law, they are legally married. Utah: 1. It is illegal not to drink milk. Virginia: 1. You may not engage in business on Sundays, with the exception of almost every industry. 2. It is illegal to tickle women. Texas: 1. It is illegal to sell one's eye. 2. It is illegal to take more than three sips of beer at a time while standing. It makes you wonder what were people doing to make this a law? Not all of them are enforced. http://www.dumblaws.com/

Resolved Question: Do you think 0bama (SWT) and his cohorts are beginning to get the idea that we don't like what they are doing?

Something Really Scary for Obama's Democrats By Wesley Pruden This is one Mr. Deeds who apparently isn't going to town. The collapse of the Democratic campaign for governor of Virginia speaks volumes - chapters, anyway - about what the body politic is trying to tell Barack Obama's Democrats. They're learning, painfully, that campaigning without George W. Bush is baffling, frustrating and scary. Worse, it offers a preview of what the congressional campaigning will be like next year. One Obama doorbell ringer, working neighborhoods in Northern Virginia for Creigh Deeds, says even the promise of free pizza can't lure faithful Democrats to a rally. For weeks, The Washington Post, the house organ of the national Democratic Party, pounded away at Bob McDonnell, the Republican nominee, for having written politically incorrect term papers in graduate school, citing his master's thesis, which decried abortion, gender-bending and radical feminism, as proof that he doesn't like women very much. Only a month ago, Mr. Deeds, the Post's horse in the race, wouldn't talk about anything but the McDonnell graduate-school thesis - maybe a boon to master's and doctoral candidates who can't get anybody but a professor to read their wit and wisdom, but, as it turns out, a bore to voters in Virginia. The public-opinion polls continue to show Mr. McDonnell ahead, despite all the Post's ineffective deeds, and with a lengthening lead. Now Mr. Deeds doesn't want to talk about graduate-school scribbling at all, just as leaks from the Post newsroom reveal that the newspaper has a seven-part series ready for publication to prove that Bob McDonnell has had a lifelong hostility to those of the pink persuasion. He once pulled the pigtails of a little girl in the second grade, and as a third-grader he bounced a spitball, aimed at a male pal, off the shoulder of a girl two rows over. These are no doubt serious charges, violence against (tiny) women, sexual harassment and all that, but not likely to turn the tide of a runaway that is building in Virginia. Suddenly, the White House is treating the bereft Mr. Deeds as if he's on the fourth day of a three-day underarm deodorant pad. Bill Clinton, accustomed to speaking to cheering thousands at a hundred grand a pop, was dispatched the other night to a Deeds rally to set the throng on fire with one of his late-October stumpwallopers. The rally, such as it was, was held not at an arena or a hotel - not even a Motel 6 - but in a campaign office in the Washington suburbs. The "throng" was counted in the dozens, about the size of a PTA meeting. Not even Bubba could dispel the gloom of a wake. "These polls are either accurate, or they're not," he said, delivering an insight worthy of a Harvard political science professor. "So are the polls right? The answer is yes, no, and maybe." But what else could he say? Dispatched for mortuary duty, Bubba could only sympathize with the preacher called on to say something nice over the grave of the town bootlegger. Barack Obama himself is offering the mere minimum of presidential support over the past seven days of the campaign, just mailing it in (even if delivering the mail in person). He'll make one last appearance with Mr. Deeds this week in Tidewater. Meanwhile, back in Washington, the president's political aides continue to dish the obsequies over a doomed candidate while pretending to pray for a miracle. So far no one has invoked Harry Truman, patron saint of doomed candidates, but there's still a week to go. Mr. Deeds' friends are bitter about the anonymous voices peddling the discouraging word from the White House. "These 'anonymous voices' have decided those hard-working [down-ballot candidates] are just collateral damage in their effort to tell the world that if [Mr.] Deeds doesn't win, it is because he ignored advice," Paul Goldman, a former chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party, tells Politico, the Washington politics daily. "This isn't change we can believe in, but the same old, same old we voted out of office. Do they really believe their attempts to shield the president from blame is going to distract [Mr.] Obama's critics, much less change the arc of today's politics?" Of course it won't, and that's what makes the Virginia race so scary for the president's men. Voters will use whatever club is available to "send a message," and sometimes, as any number of pols could tell you, the club is big, rough and means business. • Wesley Pruden is editor emeritus of The Washington Times. Resolved Question: if the republican party is rotten through how can any one vote for it?

Alan David Berlin, 40, a longtime staffer for a Republican state lawmaker, was charged on May 29, 2009 with a first degree felony for unlawful contact with a minor. He is also charged with criminal attempted sexual exploitation of children, criminal solicitation to commit sexual abuse of children, all second-degree felonies, and other offenses. authorities say Berlin suggested dressing up in animal costumes during online sex chats with a 15-year-old boy. During a search, agents found wolf- and cat-type costumes in his home. Republican sex offender & former Regent University law school assistant dean Stephen L. McPherson, who was indicted June 7, 2008 on 13 felony sexual assault charges involving two girls, has entered a guilty plea to two counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of object sexual penetration. He is set to be sentenced May 22. There was no agreement on a potential sentence, except that prosecutors will recommend a cap of 18 years and six months. Republican sex offender and former North Country assemblyman and current state Parole Board member, George "Chris" Ortloff, 61, was arrested on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 on federal charges that he used the Internet to solicit sex with minors. He was arrested following a sting operation at a Colonie motel and had allegedly arranged for a date with a minor he met on the Internet. '' The New York Post reports that he had child pornography and sex paraphernalia in his possession when he was arrested. State Police reportedly searched Ortloff'''s home in Plattsburgh and a computer had been seized from his Lake Placid real estate office, officials said. Ortloff, married with two sons, retired from the Assembly in 2006 having represented the 110 th District. '' He was appointed to the part-time position on the Parole Board, a six year term which expires in 2012, a position paying him $102,000 a year. Republican sex offender & Missouri State Rep. Scott Muschany, (R)-Frontenac, was indicted today, Aug 6, 2008, in connection with a reported sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on May 17, the day after this year’s Legislative session ended. The alleged victim is the daughter of a state employee. The girl’s mother and Muschany, a married father of 2 children, were romantically involved, the woman said. (Aren't "Family Values" a wonderful thing?) In a morbid twist of irony, Muschany was a co-sponsor of legislation that toughened sex offender laws in 2006. According to his legislative biography, Muschany and his wife were licensed as foster parents with the Division of Family Services. Republican sex offender & longtime stalwart Republican operative Peter Hong was arrested July 23, 2008 for solicitation of prostitution. Police spokesman Peter Panos said that the arrest came during the first day of a two-day sting operation during which "johns" and prostitutes responded to ads placed on the Internet and in print. Thirty-five people were arrested Wednesday and Thursday, Panos said today. Republican sex offender & candidate for Mineral County (W.Va.) Commission Wilton Frederick Bland, 30, of Bayberry Place, was arrested March 23, 2007, after police received a complaint concerning a juvenile boy who said Bland had wanted him to appear nude on the Internet. Bland charged last year with 136 counts related to sexually based crimes against children has been sentenced to a possible total of 85 years after pleading guilty in both Grant and Mineral counties. was charged at the time with 73 counts of possession of child pornography, 45 counts of sexual assault in the first degree for allegedly having sex with a child under age 11, nine counts of use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor, seven counts of display of obscene matter to a minor and two counts of employing a minor to do sexually explicit conduct, according to the West Virginia State Police. Republican Delegate Robert McKee, known as an advocate for children's rights, is the focus of a child pornography investigation after officers searched his Hagerstown, Md home. McKee is not facing any charges right now, but as of today, Feb 15, 2008, he has resigned his position as both a state delegate and as executive director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Club of Washington County. In a statement, McKee said he is entering treatment to, "get well and stay well." Shock waves echoed through Hagerstown, as the news that he was being investigated for child pornography spread like wildfire. **We will be keeping an eye on this story for further developments** ***UPDATE*** - Robert Mckee entered a guilty plea of possessing child porn on September 6, 2008. He was sentenced to 3 years in prison on November 21, 2008. McKee's journals document that he simultaneously printed images of child pornography from the Internet and printed stories describing sexual acts between young boys and other young boys or adult men. Someone from McKee's home called the Washington County Sheriff's Department to tip off authorities and
